Video transcript

Ontario landlords, tenants, everybody connected to the owners group, I need your help. So today, I’m making a direct call for help. Landlords across Ontario are connecting right now. People are sharing information, asking questions and trying to understand what happens next. But there’s a major problem, and I’ve been facing this since I’ve been involved in this situation. I am being transparent in this video right now. The information is spread across dozens of Facebook groups, private conversations and individual cities. We are connected, but information is completely disconnected between everyone. We’re talking to hundreds of different landlords. We’re getting all kinds of different messages, and I’m talking to several different Facebook administrators and WhatsApp group administrators. My team and I have committed our time to this movement. We are collecting updates and sharing what we learn openly so owners do not have to face this alone. But right now, only a small number of landlords are sending us regular updates. Everything is open for us. Our videos are open, our YouTube is open and our website is open. Everybody can read everything, and we’re being transparent about everything. We are creating everything we can to help landlords. We even have a property registry that we set up for landlords so we can connect all the different landlords and properties. There are so many things that we are doing right now to connect all of the owners. I am extremely grateful to every person who has called, messaged and shared documents or information with us. The problem is the amount of time it takes. I can spend literally four to five hours a day—and I have been. It’s not just me; it’s my team. We’re reading individual messages, searching through different pages and trying to find information that has already been discussed inside local groups. I’m not a part of these local groups. Nobody has ever invited me to be part of these local groups. I don’t know why. I don’t understand. I’m sharing everything with landlords and owners all across Ontario. Even these Facebook administrators are watching and visiting the website, but no one is inviting me. Nobody wants me to come and be part of this information. I need information quickly so I can give it to all of the owners in the local regions. Right now, there are all these different groups, and everyone is connected, but everyone is also completely disconnected. We need to unite. If we’re going to make this happen and landlords are going to take their properties back, we have to unite. We have to be together. We have to find a place where no one is competing anymore and we’re all working together. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a property manager, realtor, mortgage agent, broker, owner or tenant. All of us need to be in the same room. We need to share the information. We’re all affected. Everyone is running around right now trying to figure out what to do. Everyone is calling lawyers, and we’re not getting the answers. Even I’m supposed to have lawyer information right now, but I’m not getting answers because they’re all talking to other landlords. It’s getting difficult. It’s frustrating, and I’m frustrated because I want to share the data. I want to help landlords. That’s why I called the business Ontario Landlord Help—because this is what we do. I have three direct requests. First, I am calling on lawyers across Ontario. If you are a lawyer and you are willing to contribute some time, please contact me. Owners everywhere are looking for answers. Lawyers are extremely busy, and important questions are being asked repeatedly. They’re all the same questions, and the answers are not transparent enough for people to make the proper decisions. I want to organize an open working session with interested lawyers. We need to identify the common questions, determine what general information can responsibly be shared and work toward clear written guidance or a legal memorandum prepared or reviewed by qualified counsel. This is very important. This is a chance to help a large community at a critical moment and build lasting relationships with Ontario owners. We will respect confidentiality, professional obligations and the difference between general information and legal advice for an individual owner. Second, I’m calling on every landlord, Facebook administrator, property manager, realtor, mortgage professional and anyone connected to the landlord community. Whoever you are, we want you to be part of this. There is no competition here anymore. This is a movement. This is not about business or making money. It’s not about a lawyer, property manager or realtor making money. This is a movement to create change so we can bring information together and unite instead of having many different groups holding onto information. I’m talking to so many landlords who say, “I’m not connected to this group. I’m not connected to that group.” Neither am I. Why are we distancing ourselves from one another? We need to be together. Believe me when I say this: we have to be together. We have to share information. Every landlord needs to be in the same group right now with property managers, realtors, mortgage professionals, other landlords and tenants. Tenants need to be in this group too. Our office is receiving a tremendous number of calls right now. Tenants are calling us. Tenants are saying they want to pay us rent. They’re ready to send us rent. They’re just a click away from sending us rent. This is all happening in real time. If you are in a local Facebook group, please tag the administrator and ask them to invite me, Paul J. Rouillard, into the group. If you are an administrator, please contact me directly. I know I have spoken with several administrators from different Facebook and WhatsApp groups, but none of you have invited me into your group. It almost feels like you don’t want me to be in your group, and I don’t know why. Maybe you feel that I’m competition. I don’t know what it is. But I’m saying right now that there is no competition. This has to be open. The only reason I want to be part of these groups is because I need to find information quickly. I am spending too much time every day sourcing conversations, text messages, emails, Google results and Facebook posts. I’m not part of these groups, so I can’t scroll through them during my day and find an important article or development. I can’t do that because no one has invited me into these groups. I’m there to listen and gather information from every city so we can organize the facts and share useful updates across Ontario. Local groups are valuable, and everyone should remain active in them. We also need a way for the information inside those groups to reach the wider community. Everyone is locked into different groups, and no one is sharing anything. That’s why everyone is confused. Every landlord is confused because no one is creating an atmosphere where we are all together in the same room. We have to get there. If an administrator cannot provide access, please introduce us or volunteer to send relevant updates, public links or source information. Please protect private personal information and do not post confidential documents publicly. Third, we have created an Ontario-wide Facebook group, and I am asking everyone to join it. I mean everyone: landlords, owners, tenants, property managers, realtors, mortgage professionals, lawyers or anyone with useful information. You are all welcome. There’s no competition here. Let’s not chase business or money. That is not what this is anymore. This is a movement. None of us are going to sell our services. I am not selling, you’re not going to sell, and no one is going to post links to their services. That is the one rule of this Facebook group. This is one group. We’re all united, and the information is here. You can still remain in your individual groups and continue those discussions, but we need one group that has everyone united. We need this now. This is important and crucial, and this is what is going to change tomorrow. Everybody, please join this group. This group is our common meeting place. It allows updates from different cities to connect, helps us connect information faster and gives everyone access to the same developing picture. This is vital. Stay in your local groups. Don’t change that. Keep supporting them because they’re crucial. Landlords and administrators, you are doing amazing work. You’ve created these groups and an ecosystem where everyone is learning new details every day. Stay in those groups, but please also join this group because this is where we are going to share everything. When my team members and I are working every day, we’ll be able to scan through it, find information quickly and immediately identify developing stories. I know there are going to be some lawyers who are hungry for business who come into the group. They may not get business right away, but they’re going to be noticed and found. If lawyers join and start guiding owners, property management companies, realtors and other connected people across Ontario, I promise they are going to be recognized. If you have watched my videos, read the website or used the information my team has shared, I am asking you to help complete the circle. We need to complete this circle. It is vital. Bring information back. Connect me with your group administrator. Invite others into the Ontario-wide group. If you are a lawyer who can help us produce responsible written guidance, please contact me as quickly as possible. This is me asking for help. I am asking for help on behalf of every owner and tenant in Ontario right now. We need to unite right now. We have the people. We have the information. Now we need to connect it. We need to connect all of the information. The contact information and Facebook group link are included with this video. Check the description—it is all there. Thank you to everyone who has already stepped forward. Let’s work together. Let’s move information faster and make sure people across Ontario can understand what is happening. This is so important. That’s my message. This is me asking for help. Let’s stand united. Let’s connect. And let’s look toward tomorrow. Thank you, everyone, for watching. I appreciate it. I hope to see you in the Facebook group and the WhatsApp group that I created. Join either one or join both. We need everyone to be connected. I’ll say this again: property managers, realtors, lawyers, owners, tenants, mortgage brokers—everybody. Let’s get connected. Let’s share the information. And let’s work together.
