I didn't set out to build software. I set out to be a landlord — because it's the only life I've ever really known. I collected my first rent at 14 years old, helping my parents manage their properties. I learned this business the way you can't learn it from a book: at the door, in person, in every situation you can imagine.

Evictions back then were a different world — no forms, no Board, no months-long wait for a hearing. When a tenant had to leave, my father, my brothers and I would go to the property and sort it out in person. By the time I was a teenager, I'd already seen things most landlords never do.

At 22, I realized I understood property management, evictions and landlord–tenant disputes better than almost anyone I'd met — so I started my own property management company. I thought I'd spend my life helping landlords run their properties. Then I watched the system break.

Year after year it got harder, not easier. The government and the Landlord and Tenant Board weren't helping — honestly, no one was. Some tenants learned to game the rules, and tens of thousands of good landlords paid for it. People who should have been partners were turned into adversaries, and the system meant to keep things fair only made it worse.

I couldn't accept that nobody was going to fix it. So fifteen years ago, I started building the answer myself.

LandlordEzy has been my life's work ever since — hundreds of thousands of dollars, countless thousands of hours, and a lot of years with very little to show for it. But I kept going, because it became clear what this had to be: not just another app, but an ecosystem. A fair, modern system for landlords and tenants — the one the industry never got.
