Fire safety inspections (Ontario Fire Code)

Why it matters
Ontario's Fire Code (O. Reg. 213/07) makes landlords responsible for working smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms and safe exits. A dated, photo-backed inspection record is your proof you met that duty — and your protection if there's ever a fire or a complaint.
Run an inspection
- Go to Property Operations → Fire Safety and start an inspection for a property.
- Work through the 7-section checklist — smoke alarms, CO alarms, exits/egress, extinguishers, electrical/heating, the unit, and tenant sign-off.
- Add a photo for each item as you go. Save to generate a PDF report kept on file.
