It is ordered that: 1. The claim for $300.00 for the key fob deposit collected by the Landlords and not returned to the Tenants is dismissed. The claim that the Landlords cashed one of the cheques in the amount of $1,821.60 provided by the Tenants on two separate dates is dismissed. 2. The total amount the Landlords shall pay the Tenants is $18,869.90. This amount represents: • $10,929.60 for a rent abatement. • $6,700.80 for increased rent the Tenants have incurred for the one-year period from May 1, 2023 to May 1, 2024. • $1,186.50 for the reasonable moving expenses that the Tenants have incurred as a result of having to move out of the rental unit. • $53.00 for the cost of filing the application. 3. The Landlords shall pay the Tenants the full amount owing by February 6, 2026. 4. If the Landlords do not pay the Tenants the full amount owing by February 6, 2026, the Landlords will owe interest. This will be simple interest calculated from February 7, 2026 at 4.00% annually on the balance outstanding. 5. The Tenants have the right, at any time, to collect the full amount owing or any balance outstanding under this order. 6. The Landlords shall pay to the Landlord and Tenant Board an administrative fine in the amount of $1,000.00 by February 6, 2026.
